Base fares on seven-ship cruise line Oceania include only Wi-Fi, nonalcoholic drinks and meals in main and specialty restaurants. Other inclusions can be added as packages and under the line’s all-inclusive O Life program, which includes shore excursions, airfare and transfers. The majority of all river cruise sailings have few, if any, children onboard. They also tend to have more inclusive fares that include beer, wine and soda at dinner, plus at least some shore excursions, along with Wi-Fi and bicycle use generally included. Carnival has long been known as a family-friendly cruise line, which meant lots of children running around. To help adults find some much-needed peace and quiet while on vacation, Carnival sectioned off a section of the ship to be adults only.

Celebrity Cruises, renowned for its commitment to luxury and sophistication, offers a range of adults-only options that cater to travelers seeking refined experiences at sea. Imagine a serene voyage across crystal-clear waters, where relaxation and rejuvenation take center stage.
Most Serenity Decks Have a Whirlpool But Only Some Have a Pool

The deck has a spa-like feel with black faux-wicker furniture with teal-colored cushions and sun-yellow shade umbrellas and guest towels. With a group of 10 of use with varying ages, we were all looking for something different to do on the ship. Yes, several cruise lines offer adult-only cruises to various destinations worldwide. Some popular options include Virgin Voyages, P&O Cruises’ “Adonia” ship, and Viking. Well, for one, it will likely be quieter than those allowing guests under 18. The social aspect is also different on adults-only cruises; their is more of a focus on mingling and meeting other guests on the ship – many of the adults-only cruises have a smaller passenger capacity than the bigger cruise lines.
They strive to offer, as they themselves put it, “The Thinking Person’s Cruise“. Every detail you see on board a Viking ship was thoughtfully designed to allow you to completely immerse yourself in the destinations you’re visiting, as well as their culture, art, history and cuisine. Branson himself has said that the goal is to draw in people who’d never have considered going on a cruise before. Cutting-edge amenities range from a test kitchen to the world’s largest daybed at sea to a fancy nightclub. Who says you can’t let loose a little as you travel to your dream destination?

The bar tends to close around 10 pm which is the same time that any whirlpools will be switched off, likely to be turned on again around 8 am, though that can vary. The area on the smaller ships is adult only – 21 years old minimum, but the amenities are not as great as the longer cruises on the larger ships. The Serenity Retreat is open 24 hours a day during your cruise and I would often see folks there at night enjoying a quiet book read or a soak in the hot tub. While ultra-premium lines Oceania and Azamara are a slight step down from the previously mentioned luxury lines, the focus is almost entirely on the adults. Neither cruise line has planned activities for children, which works as a deterrent.
The bar happens to be conveniently located next to the pool so you won’t be far from the cool relief of the water when the sun starts to warm you up. If Virgin's cruise protocol of adult's only proves successful, then I think Carnival would be smart to "test the waters" (see what I did there😉) with a small fleet of ships that are not Carnival-specific. I love kids but it would be fun to experience cruising from an adult only point of view. Yes, most adult-only cruises require passengers to be at least 18 years old at the time of embarkation.

The line has two ocean ships, the 999-passenger Spirit of Discovery and the 999-passenger Spirit of Adventure, both with all balcony staterooms. Saga cruise itineraries include the Baltic, the British Isles, the Canaries, and the Caribbean. In ports that require transportation into town (like Pireaus/Athens) coaches are provided at no charge.
"Carnival is considering adults-only cruising according to survey sent to some 5,000 loyal customers." The mere fact that he asked the question means that Carnival has had internal discussions about offering adult-only cruises. Well they might as well have a kids only cruise considering how many kids we saw last week running around parentless. Three of them were right across the hall from us, and were ages 8 and 9 (brothers) and 8 (their cousin).
On Seabourn ships, there are no children’s programs at all and it’s quite unusual to see families with kids on these cruises. Although parents could take their kids on a Seabourn cruise, they’ll have to entertain and supervise them 24/7 themselves. While most cruise lines still focus on offering family-friendly cruises, there are some that have pioneered adult-only cruises. Their ships are either entirely kid-free or at least their (lack of) kid-friendly facilities keep away traveling families. In the South Pacific, tranquility isn’t just a state of being; it’s an integral part of the environment.
Onshore, you are more likely to find tours than free time, and bus tours may be longer and less fun for kids. In summary, Celebrity Cruises’ adults-only options provide travelers with the opportunity to embark on a luxurious journey that emphasizes tranquility, sophistication, and exclusivity. These cruises are ideal for couples seeking a romantic escape, friends looking for an upscale adventure, or solo travelers desiring an elegant and enriching voyage. With a commitment to innovation, exceptional service, and a dedication to creating the perfect adult experience, Celebrity Cruises stands out as a top choice for those seeking an unforgettable adults-only cruise. It’s a destination that caters to the desires of adults seeking a cruise that goes beyond the ordinary, making it a prime choice for those in pursuit of maritime serenity and sophistication.
The parents decided to party every night and just leave them to themselves. It broke our hearts seeing these kids being left like that; however, we did run into alot of families who stayed together as families. If you’re into eating healthy and staying fit, you’ll have no problem keeping up your healthy lifestyle on the ship.
You’ll find culinary experiences to enhance your understanding of the destinations your cruise is stopping at, from demonstrations to classes with locals to fully immerse yourself in the culture. Many adult-only cruises are all-inclusive and include wine and beer (if not all alcoholic beverages). While the kids are enjoying the multitude of fun things onboard, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take in a great show or participate in one of the many game shows happening during your time on the ship. From amazing stage shows, captivating musicals, mystery games and more, there is something interesting happening every day and evening.
Often, on the ships where the adults-only deck is on the front of the ship, it can get windy, and high glass partitions are needed to make it bearable. Somebody at Carnival knows just what you need, and it's pretty much exactly the Serenity Adult-Only Retreat™. Look, you'll still be on the same ship as the kids, the hoopla, and all the Carnival-style excitement… but you could easily forget, because when you’re at Serenity you could not be further from it all. The world you'll find yourself in is one of complete peace, sea breezes and, of course, a nearby bar. It's the place to get done the kind of stuff you just can't seem to do anywhere else — reconnect with your partner, finish that book, or do absolutely, blissfully, nothing at all.
Most crew will take action to remove towels after around 40 minutes but don’t be afraid to prompt them – if you see a clamshell or day bed with a towel on it and nobody returns for a while, let the crew know and they’ll remove it for you. The age limit of the area is typically reflected in a more mature decor style too, using browns and teals instead of the bright colours elsewhere on the ship. After all, Carnival’s reputation is for fun, fun and more fun – and that doesn’t always lend itself to a peaceful and calm experience. The Carnival Serenity Adult-only Retreat is the perfect place to unwind when you need to escape from the crowds on a busy Carnival ship. If you are considering a Carnival Cruise and want to get away from the main crowd anytime during your cruise, consider heading up to the Serenity Retreat.
